IDSS believes each child is unique and encourages students to achieve their learning potential. New students are assessed on entry and those requiring additional learning support are identified and appropriate structures put in place.
Parents will be informed if their child requires additional support and it is important that they trust the school’s judgment as decisions about support or extension are always made in the best interests of the child. Teachers attempt to preserve a pupil’s selfesteem by responding to specific learning difficulties in terms of enhancement rather than a remedy. Teacher expectations and a pupil’s own self-confidence are very important parts of the learning process and concentrating on the positive aspect attempts to preserve this.
Since the IDSS has the German language in teaching focus to enrich the knowledge of our students we introduced the DaF Program which is harmonized with the curriculum and adjusted to the IDSS student’s needs.
